What started out as a dream for We Are Family has now become a reality. It all began on Friday January 15th, 2016 when WAF hosted its first “Closet Case” Pop up thrift shop at Jericho, Inc. Proceeds from the pop-up benefited WAF’s mission of providing direct support services and leadership development opportunities for gender and sexual minors you through diverse programing. The start of this social enterprise was the catalyst for raising funds to launch a permanent thrift store and center that serves LGBTQI+ and straight ally youth in the Lowcountry. Thanks to the incredible generosity of its community, We Are Family was able to sign a lease on Reynolds Ave in January of 2019.
We know that shopping with us can be an over stimulating experience for some guest. For this reason we dedicate certain hours to better accommodate these guest. During this time, guest can shop in a reduced stimulating space through sounds, smells, and more. Any guest can also use one of our noise reduction headphones at anytime during our store hours (just ask a staff member for one).
Sensory hours are Wednesday-Friday 11am-1pm & Sundays 12PM-6PM
